Rimita Mukherjee, a well known Vocalist, Composer and Voice Trainer hails from Kolkata. She has aquired her in-depth knowledge and understanding of music under the guidance of some renowned names like Pandit Jagdish Prasad, Shri Ravi Shankar Sharma, Shri Jotileswar Mukherjee and Shri Kalyanji Bhai (of Kalyanji-Anandji).
Rimita had started her musical journey as a Vocalist way back in 1995, with her first performance in the album "Aasra Guruka" in 1996, which also featured artists like Anup Jalota and Vinod Ratios. "Colours of Rainbow", was her first solo album, consisting of remake of old Hindi songs released in the year 2002. Subsequently, she has released albums like "Monument", (2003) a bangla album, consisting of a mixed flavour of Rabindrasangeet, Nazrulgeeti, Atul Prosadi and Vivekananda's songs, "In The Space", (2004) an album of Rabindrasangeet, performed in Hindi, "Horizon" (2006) a mix of new and old Bangla songs, Rong (2007), Gaan On The Rocks (2008).The year 2005 Rimita start her journey as a Composer. Apart from creating innumerable jingles for many advertising agencies, she had composed many songs for her albums as well. One can find Rimita's compositions in her albums like "Rong" (2007), "Gaan On The Rocks" (2008), Monochord (2012) and "Smile & Say "Yes" To Life" (2013). While "Monochord" is the first private Hindi album, released from Kolkata, and which comprises of all songs composed by her, "Smile & Say "Yes" To Life", her latest album, comprises of a mix of three Bangla and three Hindi songs, composed by Rimita herself.She has worked with Rajesh Roshan, in his movie "Na Tum Jaano Na Hum", and for Sanjay Leela Bhansali in "Devdaas" as a Musical Assistant. She has also sung for some telefilms of Vishesh Productions, directed by Tanuja Chanda, and music direction of Dabbu Mallik. She has also sung for many Odiya movies, and has composed music for some short films like "Bhorai", "60 Seconds Only" and a few documentaries.
Besides her profile in Voice Management and Trainer at several institutes in Kolkata and Mumbai, like ZIMA, NIFFA and SKGNITS, she also takes sessions of music therapy for acute depression patients on behalf of Anjali Mental Health Rights Organisation in Kolkata.
